Welcome to the Inuit Health Research and Planning Institute Online Database
Thank you for visiting the Inuit Health Research and Planning Institutes research database-blog. This is the pilot site on what will become a research database of Inuit related information for students, participants, and researchers working with the Inuit Health Research and Planning Institute. Please feel free to add posts and comments wherever applicable to the research content of the website. The expressed views and research information will be conducted in an ethically sound environment, respecting the confidentiality of each participant in hopes to obtain and create more Inuit health information.
Our future expectations of the site will include, with respects towards the Inuit regions of Nunvut, Nunavik, Inuvialuit, and Nunatsiavut in Canada, a forum of research information specified for each region. The upcoming blog updates are currently in the development phase. The initial survey of health accordances' to the website will be selected upon approval by the Institutes participants, affiliated organizations, and future participants. Received information will be accepted upon its overall applicability to the health and wellness of Canada's Inuit. Information relating to the health of Inuit in Russia, the United States, and Greenland will be accepted for their circumpolar relatedness and to promote Inuit health awareness data researched by Inuit for Inuit.
Objectives for the Inuit Health Research and Planning Institute web-database are:
- Improve Inuit health through research, networked communication, and ensure active participation in the Institute.
- Provide a research database to develop a comprehensive national Inuit Health strategy.
- Evaluate current research that allows Inuit to influence current information available pertaining to the status of Inuit healthcare.
- Collecting and distributing Inuit Health information in contribution to funding proposals to continue conducting Inuit Health research.
- Strengthen the unity among Inuit of all regions.
- Ensure the development of Inuit society by improving political, social, and economic conditions for present and future generations.
The Institute would like to thank CIETcanada, the National Aboriginal Healing Organization (NAHO), Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami (ITK), the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB), and all other organizations affiliated with the development of the Institute.
Qujannamiik,
Joel Benoit
